• My name is Eugene Reid.   Welcome to my website music machine and THE MUSCLES OF SOUL.   I am here to share my knowledge of soul music with you. I will demonstrate how this music has indeed formed the original foundation of THE MUSCLES OF SOUL. 

Also, if you are a fan of the Rhythm and Blues music of the 50's and 60's, you will enjoy reading and listening to the material in this website.  Click the playlist links on the upper right hand side of this page to listen to some favorite SOUL LEGENDS favorites.   Study these strong Muscles of Soul Music and feel free to relive some pleasant recording memories. 

Let me begin by pointing out that I am not selling any of the music that I describe and illustrate.  I am solely interested in increasing the music fan's knowledge of Soul and Doo Wop .  I am using this website to let the music fan know what songs I have available to play.  The songs listed on this website are only suggested "Old School" favorites.  I have many other doo wop sounds to choose from.  All material used in "The Birth of Soul" document is referenced.

THE MUSCLES OF SOUL is divided into four main parts.

The meat and potatoes of information begins in the first section where we examine "THE BIRTH OF SOUL," a collection of information and CD's I compiled that explains how the soul music as we know it originated. 

Also in the introduction, I start providing personal profiles of various recordings artists whose contributions have made them SOUL LEGENDS in the music of our lives.  

This section is followed by a short description of some of the "The Forgotten 45's."

In the third part, after presenting some playlists for our music fans to listen to, we begin to summarize how this music has had a positive effect on our everyday lives.  I have included some lyrics from R&B tracks to help illustrate this.  

Finally, we will examine some soul music recordings that were later covered by top 40 artists.  This section is entitled "Then and Now."

Except for the first section, everything is still under construction.

I sincerely hope the information provided in this web site provides the strong foundation for what I call THE MUSCLES OF SOUL!
